Dr Lauren Cash

I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2012 and began my career in mixed practice in regional Victoria before spending four years in the United Kingdom working in both general small animal practice and emergency medicine. During this time, I developed a strong interest in small animal diagnostic imaging and completed a Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging through the University of Liverpool.

After returning to Australia, I worked in general practice before joining The University of Queensland as a Clinical Academic in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. Over three years, I combined clinical practice with teaching final-year veterinary students, where I discovered a genuine passion for veterinary education.

Inspired by this experience, I completed a Master of Learning and Teaching. I then joined Fairholme College, where I taught and coordinated the Psychology subject while continuing to work in small animal general practice. In 2026, I joined Southern Cross University as a Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Practice. In this role, I am committed to creating engaging, evidence-informed learning experiences that prepare veterinary students for the realities of clinical practice. I have a particular interest in case-based learning, diagnostic reasoning, and supporting students as they develop confidence in their clinical decision-making.
