Biography
Associate Professor Anthea Fagan is Deputy Chair of Nursing in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University and a Registered Nurse with more than 35 years of clinical and academic experience. Her expertise spans nursing education, curriculum design, clinical simulation, patient safety, professional education practice, and nursing accreditation. She has held leadership roles across nursing programs and is committed to preparing graduates for contemporary healthcare practice through innovative, evidence-informed, and student-centred learning approaches.
Her research focuses on nursing education, patient safety, professional identity formation, and the transition to professional practice. Current projects explore nursing students' and academics' perspectives on the integration of artificial intelligence in nursing education, innovative virtual learning environments, and moral distress experienced by nursing students and graduate nurses. She has published widely in peer-reviewed nursing and health education journals, contrubutes to peer-review of manuscripts, and has contributed to leading nursing textbooks used nationally and internationally.
